Make Your Mark on Justice
Prepare to make a measurable impact on public safety and community justice. We offer programs in criminal justice, forensic science, paralegal and pre-law education, as well as active learning opportunities (some of our Forensic Science students participated in a cold case internship focused on unsolved murders). Experienced faculty with deep industry expertise and a curriculum aligned with real professional standards mean you’ll graduate ready to uphold the values your community depends on.
Criminal Justice & Legal Programs
Whether you’re drawn to the courtroom, law enforcement, or forensics, the criminal justice programs in our School of Legal Studies — led by professionals with experience in the field — will give you the practical foundation you need to pursue justice and make a real difference.
Conservation Law Enforcement
If you want a meaningful career protecting wildlife, natural resources, and the environment, the Conservation Law Enforcement program prepares you to lead and uphold nature conservation and protection as a game warden, forest ranger, federal wildlife officer or agent, marine patrol officer, or related steward of the earth. Our curriculum provides a strong foundation in biology, ecology, and environmental science, and gives you a foundation of expertise in wildlife law enforcement, criminalistics, and conservation biology.
Criminal Justice
The Criminal Justice program gets you into the field as early as your second year in school, thanks to internships with law enforcement, HSI, Border Patrol, corrections, and private industry — backed by an active learning approach built on real-world simulation exercises. You could also pursue certification at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy in your senior year, or pursue dual degrees and earn your Bachelor’s and Master’s in Criminal Justice degrees in just five years.
Forensic Science
Our experiential style of education means you’ll learn through simulations, mock crime scenes (including real blood, hair and gunshot residue), internships, research and mock court scenarios — preparing you for crime mapping, crime scene photography, and other forensic science career paths.
Legal Studies Pre-Law
Our Legal Studies program follows the American Bar Association’s framework for pre-law education — and with the 3+3 partnership with the University of Maine School of Law, you can earn both your bachelor’s and law degree in just six years.
