If you’re passionate about all the world’s inhabitants and want to pursue a career working with humans, plants, animals, or marine ecosystems, we offer a variety of programs that will guide you to do so ethically and responsibly. Sciences Programs
Curious minds belong at Husson. Our student-centered Sciences programs are composed of innovative courses designed to sharpen your thinking, broaden your perspective, and prepare you for science careers or graduate programs that demand both intellect and adaptability.
Animal Care and Behavior
Animal lovers rejoice: Between our proximity to Maine’s diverse ecosystems and a rich array of experiential learning opportunities, this program will give you real-world experience working with a wide variety of both domestic and wild animals, which in turn prepares you for rewarding careers in areas such as wildlife rehabilitation, animal training, and animal health and nutrition.
Biology
The Biology program offers a flexible, customizable curriculum spanning molecular to population-level science, capped by an original senior research project that prepares you for medical school, graduate programs, or a career in the life sciences. If you have an interest in molecular biology, you’ll have the opportunity to pursue internships at nearby biotechnology laboratories, including The Jackson Laboratory, a world-class genetics institute in nearby Bar Harbor, Maine. Further customize your education by choosing the Biochemistry track to increase your understanding of fundamental and advanced biological and chemical processes.
Exercise Science
Improve your own quality of life alongside that of the people you work with by earning an Exercise Science degree. You’ll learn to evaluate, design, and implement tailored exercise plans for athletes, the elderly, and anyone else looking to improve their health and fitness, then choose to either enter the workforce or pursue graduate-level specialization, including through a direct pathway into Husson’s Physical Therapy program.
Forensic Science
Our experiential style of education means you’ll learn through simulations, mock crime scenes (including real blood, hair and gunshot residue), internships, research and mock court scenarios — preparing you for crime mapping, crime scene photography, and other forensic science career paths.
Health Sciences
Want to begin a career that makes a real impact on real lives? Explore what it takes to become a healthcare or healing arts practitioner. Husson’s Health Sciences program offers a flexible, faculty-guided curriculum that prepares you for a wide range of health and medical careers — or for graduate programs in medicine, public health, veterinary health, or allied health, including a direct pathway into Husson’s Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy program.
Wildlife Biology and Conservation
The vast forests, plentiful lakes and rivers, and proximity to the Atlantic Ocean make Husson the perfect place to study Wildlife Biology and Conservation. Here, you’ll have real-world learning opportunities that prepare you to graduate ready to make a real difference in these crucial fields. Key focus areas include ecological principles and current challenges facing wildlife, and your coursework is complemented by research opportunities and fascinating internships (including places such as the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service).
